Like disco, Website Wednesdays are back! Oh wait disco isn't back.. bad analogy

Hey guys that's right WW is back in action, and this week is going to be 3 different sites about music. So let's get on with it then!

First we have Blogmusik, which I've been using in Musicology for 2 weeks. What this site is is a virtual iPod (with a very sexy and shiny interface that looks like a fat iPod that just went through a car wash) that lets you listen to music if you search for the artist you want. They seem to use torrents or something to get the music.. I doubt you could get busted for using it though since you're not actually downloading the music, you're just listening to it. Also it's still in Beta so they by no means have all music, but if what you're looking for isn't brand new and is relatively popular, you should find it.

Next is a site called Pandora. Unlike BM, this has you put in a song and then they will give you recommendations based on genre, the type of music in the background, the type of singing, and tons of other very detailed things. I like it for finding music you never knew existed, and if you're lucky you'll get some good ones.

Last for the night is actually a music download site called AllofMp3. Now what is special about this site is instead of $1 a song, they charge around $.15 a song and $2 per album. How they do this is they are in Russia, and they bank on good conversion rates. Yes it is legal, I checked. And even though they're Russian wankers, they have a library of music that's about as big as stores like iTunes', including brand new stuff. Cool interface for previewing stuff too.

1 Comments:

  • Well, technically AllofMp3 isn't legal, as they don't contribute money to the record labels. It is only legal if you down;oad it within Russia.

But still, you can always claim you didn't know. :P
